I watch several Facebook groups trying to assess what everyone is looking for when visiting Nashville. One of the most popular requests is having a room as close as possible to “Lower Broadway” where all the famous clubs and bars are located.

I am pretty much a regular running around downtown Nashville checking out the music and food at all the awesome venues. As I am there I get the opportunity to talk to many people from all over the world. Being a blogger, local to Nashville, and just an adventure seeker at heart I talk to many people about what they enjoy about Nashville. Where they have gone, where they want to go, and where they stay as well. So, I do have sort of an inside scoop to be able to give y’all accurate information. Let’s talk about some Downtown Nashville hotels.

I’ll add to the list of “Nice to know” the approximate walking distance time to the Downtown Nashville hot spot. Hope this website and this page help!!

Let’s get this list started.

1. Cambria Nashville Downtown

Hotel Cambria Downtown Nashville Tennessee

A very short walk to the party area! Walk out that door in the picture, turn right, walk to the corner, and turn right again. You can probably see the people on Broadway as soon as you turn the corner. So, just a couple of blocks until the party starts!!

Hotel Indigo is a 130-guest room hotel in the heart of downtown. Indigo is well within walking distance of the most famous bars in Nashville. Like, within a 3-minute walk.

3. Bobby Hotel Downtown

Downtown Nashville, The Bobby Hotel
Bobby Hotel Downtown Nashville Tennessee

I’ve been inside the Bobby a few times, the lobby is absolutely beautiful!! The rooftop bar has a bus … yes … you read that correctly .. there is a legit bus on the rooftop! Of the downtown Nashville hotels, no other has this!! The view is really good on the rooftop but not the best rooftop view downtown. The bus is for hotel guests to sit in to have some drinks. It is kinda neat to chill in the bus so The Bobby Hotel comes as one of the higher recommended places to stay.

Bobby Hotel resides right on Printers Alley, so it is just mere steps away from the most iconic party alley in the US! That makes it about an 8-minute walk to the most famous bars in Nashville. So, no driving is needed to get to a good time. I have visited several bars and restaurants on Printers Alley .. this alone makes Bobby Hotel a great option.

Bobby knows how to wine, dine, and entertain with 4 places to get great food and drinks. There is the Roof Top Lounge, Tavern at Bobby, Cafe at Bobby, and Bobby’s Garage Bar. With 4 places to choose from, anyone should be able to find the flavor they are looking for. My couple of visits to the Roof Top Lounge were good experiences with the company, atmosphere, and even the food. As I said above, the view isn’t the best downtown but nice nonetheless.

Bobby Hotel won multiple awards such as “Travelers Choice Awards”, and the Nashville Scene “Best of Nashville”, and this location is also a winner of the AAA Four Diamond Award. Some of the awards were displayed in the lobby when I was there. Sounds like a good place to stay huh?

4. Renaissance Hotel Nashville

See the “bridge” spanning across the road, that is the lobby of a restaurant. My son and I have been to the hotel, it is a very nice place and the food is pretty good as well. It is one of the longer walks to the fun of the “strip” but it is still an easy walk.

Renaissance Nashville Hotel is like the business luxury hotel of the downtown Nashville hotels. It has plush bedding, marble bathrooms, and a breathtaking view of Nashville for that upscale touch. Best of all, the most famous bars in Nashville are within a 3-minute walk.

The Sheraton Grand Nashville is located downtown just outside The District area. Yet, it is still close enough to be a short walk to get to the most famous bars in Nashville. If you are in town to see a big show Tennessee Performing Arts Center is close. I have seen Gabriel Iglesias there! Awesome show!!

I haven’t been in this one. I have talked with several people who have stayed at the Sheraton, they said they enjoyed their stay but would have liked to have been closer to “all the fun stuff”.

6. The Capitol Hotel

Capitol Hotel Downtown has a nice Southern charm that is within walking distance of The Historic District. Of the downtown Nashville hotels on the list, this place is probably the longest walk of them all. When you leave Broadway after a night of Honky Tonk partying, the walk back will be all uphill. Modern amenities such as a fitness room, spacious lobby, vibrant modern décor, and an in-house restaurant.

Being a frequent flyer of downtown Nashville I’ve been by this hotel several times but not in it. Tourists I’ve spoken with leave me to believe that this is one of the lesser expensive places downtown within walking distance of the bars. But, they usually followed up by wishing it was closer but it was still manageable for the price of the stay.

7. Moxy Downtown Nashville

Moxy Hotel Downtown Nashville

The Moxy!!! This and Drury are the TOP downtown Nashville hotels mentioned by tourists and locals when they are downtown on “staycation”. Their little rooftop bar is awesome! I’ve eaten there and had drinks a few times and I can say that I liked it there very much! The food is great and the view over Lower Broadway is absolutely awesome!!

Located right on Honky Tonk Row, The Moxy Hotel Downtown Nashville is a few steps away from so many top attractions such as the Johnny Cash Museum, Country Music Hall of Fame, the Bridgestone Arena, and all the fun of the downtown clubs.

The Moxy is geared toward those who enjoy a fun stay instead of just “another hotel”. Many rooms have exposed brick interior walls, LED lighting under the bed, and huge 55″ TVs.

Be sure to take a few minutes to go check out Bar Moxy Coffee Shop and Lounge. It’s the social club for the Moxy guests to sit back and chill with a good latte or a cocktail of your choice. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a casual dress code.

8. Omni Nashville Hotel

I’ve been inside the Omni a few times, I love the decor. The view from the outer window locations is great! Out of the large windows on the side opposite Broadway, you can see the awesome mural that represents the Tennessee Titans and the 615 area code. Even if you don’t stay here you should check out the views that are offered if you explore the rooftop and other areas.

The Omni hotel is unique with its exposed steel and the use of local natural resources. For me personally, it is one of those buildings that stands out for its modern yet natural vibe.

Located in SoBro it is just a few walking minutes from “The District”, this hotel puts you very close to all the fun of Lower Broadway. If you are in no hurry to get to Broadway, you can relax at the rooftop swimming pool and lounge until the nightlife kicks in full force.

If you come out the door on the Vietnam Veterans, walk down to 4th Ave to get to Broadway you will be walking by the Walk of Fame Park where you can see the stars of many of your favorite musicians. Here is a short video of the walk to Broadway. Occasionally in that park, they have music festivals, craft beer festivals .. ya never really know what they are going to do there. Many times I’ve laid back in the grass watching live shows while drinking a good local craft beer!

Of the downtown Nashville hotels, The Omni, Drury, or Moxy would be my favorite pics. The Omni for the location of the walkable tourist attractions. Drury for location and amenities. The Moxy for the neat rooftop and just a few steps to Lower Broadway.

Omni Hotel Nashville offers a “Kids Crew” program that gives the little ones a backpack of neat stuff to do. Oh, can’t forget the cookies and milk delivered on their for the first night there.

9. Margaritaville Hotel Nashville

Margaritaville Hotel Downtown Nashville – Fella on the bike is a cool dude!

As many of you will know this was owned by the late Jimmy Buffet! There is this hotel and a Margaritaville restaurant on Lower Broadway.

I haven’t been inside this hotel, but like I mentioned in some of the above locations, I have talked with people who have. Everyone gives a geed review of the establishment itself. The only downside I’ve heard is the open parking lot doesn’t feel safe at night and I have read that there have been cars broken into although Incan not confirm that myself. Many of the hotels mentioned on this list have enclosed parking garages which keeps the rif raf out.

Margaritaville Hotel Nashville is in the SoBro area of downtown Nashville just 2 blocks from the “The District” where all the famous bars are located. Here is the YouTube video of the walk.

Right across the street from the hotel is a little dive bar called Bar Sovereign. It is a little dimly lit hole-in-the-wall place with a chill vibe.

10. Drury Plaza Hotel

Main Entrance Drury Plaza Inn Downtown Nashville

Based upon all my research the Drury is the #1 most requested, visited, and talked about hotel that is within walking distance of all the bars in Lower Broadway. It is pretty much across the street from Ascend Amphitheater if you plan on going to a big concert while you are in. I have done this walk several times so I can tell you firsthand that it is an easy walk. Here is a YouTube video of the walk to Broadway. It isn’t the closest, that title belongs to the Moxy, but it is a safe and short walk. Oh … Martins barbecue is a short walk and it is really good!!! Of the downtown Nashville hotels this is the most recommended one in all the Facebook groups, forums, and even the locals.

For the environmentally conscious people, Drury Plaza Inn is one of the biggest fans of protecting the environment. Drury Hotels seek to be granted the LEED certification by using energy-efficient designs, low-impact construction practices, and hotel amenities that reduce landfill waste. As part of recycling plastics, they even make sure your hotel key is recycled so it doesn’t land in a landfill! Keep Nashville Beautiful by recycling when and where you can.

Aside from the great environmental practices they offer, they also have you covered with great creature comforts. From the outside, it looks just average I guess one might say.

Awesome Nashville Live Music Not On Broadway

Nashville live music not on Broadway? Yep!! If you want to enjoy the sounds of great music in a much more relaxed atmosphere .. get away from Lower Broadway!!! Head on out to other great areas of Nashville such as Music Row or the Music Valley area where the locals hang out for awesome live music.

Nashville live music not on Broadway is a comment that typically only locals say. Oftentimes out-of-town visitors may want to enjoy the local music talent without the downtown lower Broadway chaos. That is why Nashville is called the Music City, there are great musicians in many venues all over town.

These areas lesser-known by tourists areas have the most relaxing vibe, to be honest. They are much more laid back than Broadway with great music, great food, and great drinks. What else could you ask for? Allow me to tell you about some of the more popular places that you are sure to enjoy.

Please pay attention to their websites as to how to purchase tickets. Some places are online only and do not sell admission at the door. I’d hate for you to arrive to find the show is sold out and you can’t get in. Some of the live music venues in Nashville sell out QUICKLY!!

Scoreboard Bar and Grill

Scoreboard Bar and Grill

Honestly from the point of view of this article, it is a bad idea to start with Scoreboard. Why? Well, of all the Nashville live music venues that are not on Broadway, this is one of the most popular ones in Nashville, and for good reason. So, once you find out about Scoreboard there is no reason for you to finish reading the rest of this huh?

The times I’ve eaten at Scoreboard Bar and Grill there was great live music and there were even lots of fun games out in the yard like a huge Connect Four board. OK … even the food is darn good as well. I’ve been there a few times. This totally awesome place is located over in the Music Valley area near the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.

Take Briley Parkway get off on McGacock Pike and turn towards the direction you see all the buildings and businesses. Be in the right-hand lane and go through the Music Valley Drive red light. Keep an eye out for Cooters (Dukes of Hazzard) and then The Palace, as soon as you pass The Palace turn on the street to the right side of the convenience store. Look to your right and you will see Scoreboard Bar and Grill directly behind The Palace. The front entrance isn’t very obvious, it’s on the side facing The Palace.

Wanna check out Scoreboard Bar and Grill? Click here to check out the site.

Wanna check out more great things to do in Music Valley? Click here for that article.

The Basement East

The Basement East plays more of the music I like such as hard rock and metal. This is one of the more diverse Nashville live music venues that is not on Broadway. This place has music from MANY different genres. Seriously, they have everything from local country acts to well-known metal bands. You will need to check their calendar to see who is playing to make sure you catch a band or artist you will enjoy.

This little place is located near the Five Points area of East Nashville. The perk to that is once the show is over it is a short walk to Five Points where you will find lots of bars with even more live music. Oh, can’t forget Five Points Pizza which is a late-night locally owned pizza shop … it is GOOD!!

Wanna check out the Basement East schedule? Click here to view the calendar.

Alley Taps

OK .. so I’m kinda splitting hairs here. Alley Taps is located in the world-famous Printers Alley which is just a couple of blocks off Broadway. But, that little alley is so neat with its “Speak-easy” vibe making you feel like you have walked back in time.

The vibe within Alley Taps is kinda like an old speakeasy of the old prohibition days. This little hole in the wall is a huge draw for musical talent. So, if you want to take a short walk to take a break from the chaos of lower Broadway to enjoy some great music with a chill atmosphere, go on over to Alley Taps.

Now Alley Taps isn’t quite on the part where you see all the lights hanging up. If you are facing the lights from all the other bars, restaurants, and other live music venues …. turn around. It is down the lesser lit of the alley. Don’t worry, it is safe. As you walk down the alley keep an eye out on your right for a small door with some prohibition paintings around it. Welcome to Alley Taps! Before you walk in look across the alley at that awesome mural! Also, you may see someone playing music down in the lower third of the alley.

Sounds like a good time? Click here to check out the site.

This mural is across from the entrance of Alley Taps

The Bluebird Cafe

It would be just simply WRONG to leave The Bluebird Cafe off the “Nashville live music not on Broadway” list! This little place features MANY of Nashville’s local talent. It is a small venue with a chill vibe and some great musical talent. So, I gotta be straight with you, it can be rather difficult to get in due to the shows selling out rather quickly.

This little place has been on TV countless times! There have been acts that are just starting to famous names like Johnny Cash, Minnie Pearl, John Bon Jovi, and even Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. So yeah, The Bluebird Cafe is kind of a big deal ya know!!

As I mentioned above, this is one of those places that sells tickets online. So if you are interested in checking out a show? Click here for the calendar. Get tickets ASAP because they always sell out fast!

Exit In

Exit In Nashville

One of Nashville’s older small venues that has a wide variety of awesome acts. I say acts because Exit/In has everything from music to comedy that graces the stage. This little place is located over on Elliston Place which is a short drive from Lower Broadway. You know the question that is sometimes asked: “Where do the locals go?” This is one of those places!

I have seen a few rock shows at Exit In, even a couple of Comedies. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures, that was before I even thought about creating Things In Nashville the website or YouTube channel. The next show I go to I’ll remedy that picture issue. This is a highly recommended place to check out if you want to hang with the locals for some Nashville live music that is not on Broadway.

Wanna know who the act is while you are visiting? Click here for the calendar.

The 5 Spot

East Nashville baby!! I’ve spent a lot of time in the 5 Points area of East Nashville. That is where this small but nationally known dive bar is located. The TV show “Nashville” has filmed a few scenes here at The 5 Spot. One time Lady Gaga even made this one of her stops while she was on tour and even did a little gig while she was there. Even she wanted some Nashville live music away from Broadway.

The 5 Points area of East Nashville is a few miles away from Broadway. Just so you aren’t caught by surprise, 5 Points is hopping!!! It isn’t as busy and chaotic as Lower Broadway downtown, so let’s just call this the happy medium of calm and chaos.

Lots of locals hang out here as well as great local music acts. Click here to check out the events calendar.

The Listening Room

Located not too far away from Lower Broadway over in the SoBro area is one of the larger venues on this list. The main room seats about 325 people with room for much more if you need to hold a private or corporate event here. This isn’t one of the little dive bar locations, but it still has an easy-going vibe so that you can relax while you enjoy your drinks and music.

As for music, many popular local acts perform here. Admission prices vary based on who is playing and/or how many acts are scheduled for that night. So, take a short walk away from the tourist crowds and enjoy some Nashville live music over in SoBro .. not on Broadway.

Sounds like a place you may wanna check out? Here is the events calendar.

Tennessee Brew Works

Founded in 2013 as an independent craft brewery utilizing natural grains from local sources whenever possible. Once they have gotten as much of the awesome beer as possible out of the grains the remains are used to feed Wagyu cattle. So by coming to Tennessee Brew Works, you are also supporting many other local businesses as well.

But, this is about Nashville live music not on Broadway! Well, they have a stage to provide that for you. Checking the calendar there is an open mic night with a mix of Bluegrass thrown in. I’ve had their beer a time or two and it is pretty good! I still need to drop in and check out the music.

Y’all curious who is playing while you are in? Click here to check out the calendar.

Marathon Music Works

Nashville live music not on Broadway
Marathon Music Works

I love MMW!! I’ve got a thing for exposed beams, rustic beat-up concrete exposed brick walls, and open architecture, Marathon Music Works delivers that with its archaic industrial vibe. Located right next door to Marathon Motorworks on Clinton Street, this whole street has lots of history! This is probably one of my favorite Nashville live music not on Broadway venues!! I am very drawn to the venues on this street!

Originally built in the 1900s, this restored 14,000 square feet venue hosts many different genres of music and other great acts. Not only can this venue host music acts, but it can also be reserved for special events, banquets, corporate gatherings, and much more.

Just next door is Marathon Motor Works, which is a museum of an old car manufacturer. There are a couple of places inside that have live music as well along with free moonshine taste testing.

Marathon Music Works is a great place!! Click here to check out the event calendar.

City Winery

OK, time to move up the fancy scale a bit of the Nashville live music not on Broadway list. The City Winery is over in the SoBro area of Nashville. It is a short walk to lower Broadway but it is nowhere as busy and chaotic. This place has had honorable mentions from high-end publications such as Elle, The Symphony Morning Herald, and more. Oooo fancy!

This venue has many different genres of music gracing the stage such as Country, Blues, Soul, Bluegrass, Jazz, and much more. There are even comedy acts on occasion.

But the music isn’t all. The City Winery has some of the best food and wine anyone could ask for. This is a perfect place for that first date if you aim to impress.

Sounds like a great time doesn’t it? Click here to check out the calendar of events.

3rd and Lindsley

Another Nashville icon that has been around for a long time! Much like several other places on this list, there is a mix of genres here as well. There can be local musicians or even big-name acts that wanna play in a small venue.

Wanna snack while you enjoy the music? They offer a good selection of simple foods and great drinks. This is one of the OG places to enjoy Nashville live music not on Broadway. Oh, by the way. There are occasionally free shows and/or special backstage events. I highly recommend checking out 3rd and Lindsley.

Tickets are sold online. Here is the website to see the calendar and purchase tickets.

The Station Inn

Located in The Gulch which qualifies it to be one of the many Nashville live music not on Broadway places. But being one of the more popular ones is what makes it to this list. This is what you call a listening room. Meaning, the musician play, you just kick back in a chair with the other folks and listen. Simple enough huh?

The genre played at The Station Inn is mostly Bluegrass. So, if you are looking for a banjo picking good time. This could be your place. They serve simple foods such as pizza, hot dogs, nachos, and more. As for drinks, there are tea, soft drinks, and beer.

Wanna see who is playing? Click here to check out the site.

Nashville Live Music That’s Not on Broadway Summary

There are often events held that could be live music or any number of reasons depending on what larger events. Or, you could simply see people having a little picnic sitting on a blanket, or someone playing with their fur baby. It is a great little park to sit and chill alone or with friends.

10. Wildhorse Saloon

The Wildhorse Saloon is probably the most famous car in Nashville. Country music stars such as Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, and Shania Twain have graced this stage in the beginning years of their career.

There is a lot to offer at this awesome place! Of course, I mentioned the dance floor where families of young and old can dance to live music. Plus they offer free line dancing classes taught by experienced instructors. The food served here is of the Southern variety like fried chicken, catfish, mac and cheese, and much more.

The Wildhorse is kid friendly until 9 pm, I have seen families out on the dance floor having a great time, even the children that appeared to be preschool age.

Scoreboard is probably one of if not the most popular bar and grills for the locals in Nashville. It is also popular with tourists who know about it and want to enjoy live music, games, and good food without the crowds of downtown Lower Broadway Nashville.

I’ve personally been to Scoreboard several times. There are TVs throughout and even a large dancefloor with a stage for live music entertainment. It is a very casual yet fun place to hang out.

Scoreboard Bar and Grill

Sundays are called “Funday” where they have of course live music, and games outside and inside. It isn’t uncommon on that Sunday for them to be having some special cook-out to add something special to the menu. It is kinda strange to say that a bar and grill could be a part of someone’s Nashville tourist attractions, if a tourist gets on a mission to get away from the crowds of downtown, they often end up at Scoreboard.

Now, it is kinda hidden. You can see The Palace from McGavock Pike, Scoreboard is right behind it.

Nashville Tourist Attractions in Germantown

19. Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park

Address: 600 James Robertson Parkway, Hours: Open daily from 6 am to 11 pm. (This may vary depending on events)

Located just over the hill from the capitol in the heart of downtown Nashville and features a HUGE granite map of the state of Tennessee, a World War II memorial, an almost 20′ tall statue of Davy Crockett, and a 50′ tall carillion with huge loud bells that chime on the hour. It’s a great place to have a picnic or just relax and enjoy the scenery.

Rather be more active? Well, there is over a 1 mile of walking trails, a playground, there is a designated picnic area but honestly you can do that about anywhere in the park. Maybe you can catch a show at the Greek-style amphitheater that seats over 2,200 people.

If you want food but didn’t bring anything. No problem! The park joins right to the backside of the Nashville Farmers Market which I will tell you about next. There are also several GREAT restaurants that are just a short drive away to get a to-go order for a picnic.

20. Nashville Farmers’ Market

Address: 900 Rosa L Parks Blvd, Hours: It is a lot to type. Just click this link to go to the website.

I love this place!! Been there many times. This Nashville Farmers market is open year-round and depending on the season may offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses, and other locally-made products. Even in the produce off-season, there are local artists that showcase their arts and crafts for anyone to purchase. This really isn’t one of the Nashville tourist attractions, it is more of a local thing. It is definitely one of my favorite must-dos in Nashville!!

The artists and produce vendors set up under one of two open-air shelters. Inside there are 20ish or so restaurants that are specific to Nashville to choose from. Food choices range from good ole southern BBQ, to Jamaican, and one of two of the best (in my opinion) ice cream shops in Nashville! You gotta check out Jeni’s Ice Cream while you are there. If you want a good cold beer on a hot summer day, there is an awesome “Tap house” there as well with MANY great choices of local Nashville brews.

Address: 919 3rd Ave N, Hours: Monday Closed. Tues 4 pm – 11 pm. Wed, Thur, Sun 11 am – 11 pm. Fri, Sat 11 am – 12 am.

Why am I adding another sports bar as an item for Nashville tourist attractions? Simple … this one is just so cool! Welp, above I told you about the Nashville Sounds ballpark. The restaurant bar and grill overlooks the field! I’ve been there and watched a game from the balcony overlooking 3rd base. The view is awesome, the food is great, lots of brews on tap, and lots of large TV screens inside if you want to watch some of the other sports events that may be on.

Good food at Third and Home while watching a Nashville Sounds game

If you are local and have a party of up to 20 people, you can get the balcony for your group with a dedicated server. Just a heads up though. You and your crew need to spend $1000 total on drinks and food. The way some people put down beers during a game, should not be difficult to do.

Check out the Third and Home website by clicking here.

24. Belle Meade Winery

Address: 5025 Harding Pike, Hours: Hours can depend on possible events. Click here to see the hours.

Bell Meade Winery and Plantation is the oldest winery in Nashville and is located on the Belle Meade Plantation. The winery was successful in the beginning back in 1875 even though it did struggle during the Prohibition era. In the 1950’s the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities purchased the winery and continued making the wine in 1970.

They offer a tour of the winery that takes you through the process of making wine. They make red, white, and rose’ wines that are available for taste testing.

While you are there for the wine tasting you should take a tour of the grounds as well. You can enjoy the stroll through the gardens and I’ve heard you can picnic as well although I personally haven’t done that.

Are ya hungry after taking that stroll through the gardens? Check out their meat and three restaurant serving up Southern classics like fried chicken, meatloaf, and mashed potatoes.

The Nashville Zoo is a must-do for the Nashville tourist attractions list, especially if you have kids. Occasionally they have events that are adult-only due to the events serving alcohol.

The Nashville Zoo is a great place to see animals from all over the world. It is located in West Nashville, and it is a popular destination for families. The zoo has well over 3,000 animals, encompassing over 300 species, and there are educational exhibits and shows as well all this spread out over approximately 90 of its 188 acres.

There are exhibits where kids and adults can get up close and personal with some of the zoo’s animals, even the possibility of feeding them.

Nashville Zoolumination Dragon
Chinese Lantern Festival event at the Nashville Zoo

I mentioned above the Nashville Zoo having special events for adults. Of course, they also have them for kids as well. There is Halloween through the zoo where they create special displays, games, and even shows for the children to enjoy. The very fun and educational Dinosaur display where they have animatronic life-sized dinosaurs set up along a walking path to see. At each dinosaur there is a bit of information about where they lived and in what era. I really enjoyed it as I walked through the event. Just a heads up … one set of dinosaurs spray water like they are spitting on you.

26. Adventure Science Center

Address: 800 Fort Negley Blvd., Hours: Mon, Thur, Fri 9 am – 3pm. Sat, Sun 9 am- 5 pm, Tues, Wed Closed.

The Adventure Science Museum is a great place for kids to learn about science and technology. There are several exhibits that provide hands-on, interactive experiences that provide a fun education for all ages.

Along with all the fun interactive learning exhibits there is an adventure tower that is around 75 feet tall. At the top of the tower is an observation deck with an awesome view of Nashville. Be sure to take a peek through the binoculars for a better view.

These things are just a small sample of learning activities that the Adventure Science Center has to offer. If you have an inquisitive little one, this should be on your Nashville tourist attractions list!

Summary of Nashville Tourist Attractions

We, locals, know that there are so many more Nashville tourist destinations than what is on this list. Later, I can create more articles listing even more attractions but this will get you off to a good start. Hope this list helps. Have fun in Nashville!

#1 Best Graceland Tour Package?

Best Graceland tour package? Hmmm … that is a hard choice. Well, I am a Nashville native and I love to travel. I have been on business and pleasure trips in Memphis several times. One of my stops was Graceland, the getaway home for Elvis Presley and his family. Let us look at the options to see what fits you.

Best Graceland tour package will be determined by what you want to see. Graceland has so much to offer to get to know the life of the legendary musician, the King of Rock and Roll, the legendary Elvis Presley. It has been said it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the United States.

Graceland Memphis Tn

Best Graceland Tour package should include seeing Elvis stage suites
Just a few of Elvis’ stage suites are on display. There are MANY more!

The address you will be looking for is 3717 Elvis Presley Boulevard Memphis Tn 38116. Whether you are traveling from Interstate 40 or Interstate 55 getting to the location is easy to access. If you happen to be flying into Memphis International Airport Graceland is just a few minute drive once you are wheels down.

Is the Best Graceland Mansion Tour worth it?

No matter what tour you choose while getting your tickets, the best Graceland tour package will include the mansion itself. I mean …. that is the #1 reason for learning about Elvis’ life to begin with .. right?!?!

As I said, the most popular tours include the “Graceland Mansion Tour,” which takes you through the main house, including the famous Jungle Room, the Trophy Building with Elvis’ awards, and the Meditation Garden, where you will see markers of some of his family members including his mom, Lisa Marie, and her son.

Not only will you get to walk in the same footsteps as Elvis himself once did, but you will also learn why he made the choices of decore that he did. Taking this little stroll through his history is very interesting and educational, making the Graceland Mansion Tour package worth it!!

As you tour through the mansion you will be wearing a small touchscreen tablet with headphones that provide audio-guided information into Elvis’ life, career, and interesting details about the decor. Just a heads up … When I visited, there is no video or live streaming allowed inside the mansion.

They give you tablets to listen to the audio portion of the Graceland Mansion tour. Bring your own headphones if you prefer.

What is inside Graceland?

So touch on a few of the things you will find inside the mansion. It is very unique as it is beautiful.

Starting in the living room it has the famous white couches, stained glass accents, and a very nice grand piano.

The Dining room has places setting at the table, a huge hutch along the wall, and bookcase corners in the outside wall.

The kitchen is a unique combination of yellow and white with authentic 1970s appliances.

The Jungle Room is one of the aa hmmm more unique rooms that has a few pieces of live edge furniture, some tables with a tribal vibe, really thick green carpet, and lots of big leafy plants.

The trophy room is actually just outside the mansion in a different building. This building showcases Elvis’ vast collection of awards, including his Grammys, gold records, and movie memorabilia. Along with his awards and such there are lots of artifacts from his personal life such as pictures of family, furniture, and collectibles he had of that era.

Outside there is the Meditation Garden and swimming pool. In the Meditation garden, you will find the resting places of members of Elvis’ family.

A brief history of the Graceland Mansion.

Things in Nashville Front of Graceland Mansion
Front of the Graceland Mansion through the tour bus window as I’m being dropped off

In the spring of 1957, Elvis purchased Graceland and just over 13 acres for $100,000 at the young age of just 22 years old.

Graceland was originally owned by the Toof family and it had been part of the family for many generations. At one time there were about 500 acres of farmland. The farm was named after one of their female relatives, Grace. Grace’s niece, Ruth, and her husband Dr. Thomas Moore built the mansion.

Of course, when Elvis purchased the mansion In ‘57 he made lots of modifications to suit his young energetic lifestyle. He created a TV room, a billiards room, a racquetball court, and the meditation garden mentioned above. As anyone knows that has seen his live performances he loved the flashy lifestyle, this is also reflected throughout the mansion in several of the rooms.

After Elvis’ death, it remained in the possession of the Presley family. In 1982 it was opened up to the public to allow fans to tour the mansion and get an inside look at Elvis’ extravagant lifestyle.

So I feel it goes without saying that the best Graceland Tour package should definitely include the mansion itself. But hey, that’s just my opinion. You should go see for yourself if the Graceland Tour is worth it.

What is inside Graceland the entertainment complex?

Elvis has an very large car collection at Graceland in Memphis
One of many cars in Elvis’ collection at Graceland

The best Graceland Tour Package will also include the complex which is located across the street from the mansion. You will start your time at Graceland at the entertainment complex because this is where you get the tour tickets. If you get the Graceland Mansion tour you will gather with the others to get on a bus for the short ride across the street.

So, what is to be seen at the Graceland complex? Good question .. let us go over a few things that will enlighten you about the awesome life of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley.

I love cars so I’ll start out by mentioning a few that is in his collection. Of course, there is his pink Cadillac, fine Rolls-Royces, a Stutz Blackhawk, his limo, Ford Thunderbirds (he was a big fan of the old T-birds), a 2-wheel drive International Scout, golf cart that he drove around Graceland, his sponsored drag race car, a restored tractor, and LOTS of motorcycles and 3 wheelers. Trust me, it is a fun collection to check out if you like cars.

The Entertainment Career Museum has LOTS of his stage costumes and jump suites. We are talking about very high walls to display them all! There are exhibits of his many guitars, movie posters, artifacts of his military career, all his albums in gold or platinum, and an area of more of his personal artifacts. Don’t miss the display of the many other musicians that are honored. If you are an avid Elvis fan, this part of the tour alone will make the best Graceland Tour package for you.

What is there to see around Graceland Entertainment complex?

The Lisa Marie, Elvis' airplanes would make a great addition to create the best Graceland tour package
The Best Graceland tour package should include walking inside Elvis’ airplanes

To make sure you have your best Graceland tour package be sure to check out the great sites outside. There are some restaurants to choose from but most importantly you should check out his airplanes. He had two of them; The Lisa Marie and The Hound Dog II.

The Lisa Marie was obviously named after his daughter. It was a Convair 880 jet that he purchased in 1975 at the purchase price of approximately $250,000. Then of course he had to customize it to his liking, as anyone would. The interior had a conference room, a bar, a lounge area, and his private bedroom. The Lisa Marie served as Elvis’ private jet transporting him, his entourage, and his band to his various tour destinations.

The Hound Dog II is a Lockheed JetStar, a smaller and much more compact aircraft than the Lisa Marie. He purchased it after the Lisa Marie for his personal travels and short travels. The inside was customized as well for comfort and glamour.

Whatever you choose to be part of your best Graceland tour package, I do recommend this being one of the exhibits you check out. It is very interesting and honestly … kinda cool to be in the King of Rock and Rolls’ personal airplanes.

How many hours do you need in Graceland?

The amount of time needed at Graceland will depend on your level of interest, the size of the crowd, and what Graceland Tour package is best for you. On average expect to spend at least 3 hours exploring the mansion, the main complex, and the exhibits. If you are a reader like I am, you will need quite a bit more time. I enjoy reading all the little exhibit signs to learn as much as I can about whatever I am visiting.

Keep in mind the peak seasons will bring bigger crowds, which will obviously affect how much time it takes to see all the exhibits. Be sure to check the Graceland website for updates or recommendations for special events that may affect timing and the time needed to explore.

Need to check Graceland’s website? Click here to check it out.

Should I buy Graceland tickets in advance?

You absolutely should get tickets in advance if you can. On season peak times the line for the tickets can take a while to get through. So, if you pick out ahead of time the best Graceland Tour package that suits you, it can leave you with lots more time to learn about the King of Rock and Roll and see all the wonderful exhibits that he has earned.

Free Things to do in Graceland

The Meditation Garden at Graceland
The Meditation Garden at Graceland

Yes, there are actually free things to do in Graceland. If you get there between 7:30am and 8:30am you can walk up to the Meditation Garden to see the grave markers of Elvis, Lisa Marie, and other family members. Feel free to take pictures of the garden, the outside of the Graceland mansion, and the iconic gates at the end of the driveway. But you must be out before the daily tours begin.

After you check out the Meditation Garden just walk across the street to the entertainment complex and check out the The Wall of Honor, explore the gift shops of Elvis themes merch, and memorabilia, and the Elvis music is always playing.

Is it worth it to stay in the Guest House in Graceland?

The Guest House at Graceland is a luxury hotel located near Graceland in Memphis. It is an actual hotel that is owned by the same people who own Graceland which offers a unique experience for its guests.

It is located at 3600 Elvis Presley Boulevard just steps away from the Graceland Mansion. The hotel decor is all about Elvis! I know .. duh, it should :-). It blends modern amenities with 1960’s era furnishings giving the vibe of Graceland the mansion. Cool huh?!

Along with the old-school vibe, there are Elvis-themed accents and elements throughout as well. The hotel offers a blend of accommodations to suit different size groups and tastes. But all the suits include luxury bedding, flat-screened TVs, a mini-fridge, and free Wifi. Staying in an Elvis-themed hotel would just be icing on the cake for creating your best Graceland Tour package.

We got the sleeping options covered, what is there to do onsite? Well, there is a fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, and a 460+ seat theater to host live performances and special events.

Gotta have some onsite dining options. There is Delta’s Kitchen which is the signature restaurant offering southern and international cuisine. EP’s Bar and Grill is a sports-themed restaurant with a chill casual environment. For the quick bites, there is the Lobby Lounge, and Shake, Rattle & Go.

I would guess it would go without saying they provide guests with a complimentary shuttle to and from the Graceland mansion and its attractions. You can also create accommodation packages that combine the Graceland attractions. Nice huh!!

Staying at the Guest House at Graceland provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of Elvis Presley while enjoying luxurious accommodations and amenities. Silo Mural in The Nations of West Nashville

The Silo Mural is one of the most famous murals in Nashville. Not because it is the tallest in Nashville, but because it actually has history and meaning.

The silo mural of West Nashville is a historical landmark of an area of Nashville called The Nations. Standing 200 feet tall, it is the tallest building in that district. The mural is of a fellow that was a longtime resident of The Nations neighborhood. The back side has 2 children painted on it.

It may not be the most colorful mural with its black and white hues. To me personally, it has the most honorable meaning of all the murals in Nashville.

Head to West Nashville and drive along Centennial Blvd. Keep an eye out for a tall abandoned silo with a nice gentleman painted on it. Meet Lee Estes who is the fella you see as the silo mural.

Lee Estes aka LD was 91 at the time of this mural and he had lived in The Nations since the 1920s. Throughout his life, he lived within sight of the large concrete grain silo that was owned by Gillette Grain Company at one time. As the neighborhood grew there was talk of tearing down the silo. Luckily this is one time the preservation of history prevailed.

The 15+ story silo mural became a huge neighborhood event. People were gathering on other people’s porches and patio bars to watch the awesome mural unfold. A Nashville historic icon in the making honoring a nice fella who watched the neighborhood grow.

Who is the artist who painted the historic silo mural

An internationally acclaimed Australian mural artist named Guido Van Helten. He is known for his realistic large-scale paintings that are so realistic they could be considered photographs. What is really cool, Guido tends to use a monochromatic color scale using black and white and similar tones which give the silo mural an old-school gritty feel that fits the silo and in this case, Lee’s mural.

Nashville Walls project and Southeast Venture partnered up in 2017 to commission the mural. The artist came to West Nashville to come up with an idea for the mural. Guido is not only known for his color choices being monochromatic as mentioned above. He is also known for using people as his subjects to be featured in the portraits. So, he set out to meet people in the community to find his subject.

Who is Lee Estes?

The artist meets Lee … an upstanding citizen of The Nations community. Lee volunteers at Saint Luke’s Community Center which gives low-income families and seniors a place to gather, socialize, and have fun. In the past, Lee would often go to the center to hang out and have fun playing basketball and attending dances with others in the community. He later started volunteering by helping set up arts and crafts activities. Often times he helps the younger generations with their art projects as well.

On the other side of the silo is another part of the silo mural. As I mentioned above Lee often helped the younger kids with their art projects. Standing well over 100 feet tall are two of the children of Saint Luke’s Community Center.

Here is an interesting article about Lee: Click here to read.

Where is the silo mural located?

Punch in your GPS or Google Maps the address 1407 51st Ave. N. Once you get in the area, it isn’t hard to spot. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops in the area so finding a place to park isn’t difficult. Actually, White Bison Coffee shop is probably the closest, and YUM!!! So, get yourself a drink, and walk back outside to view the silo mural of Lee Estes.

You can get pictures of the mural of Lee Estes from the coffee shop or from the road no problem. Getting pictures of the children isn’t as easy. So getting close, I can tell you it is possible. But … here is a bit of a warning. I have NO IDEA if you will be trespassing or not. There were no signs posted as of 03/2023 that I could see, but you are still on private property. So .. it is completely up to you if you want to take the risk of getting close.

So .. how do you get close you ask? If you get in trouble .. it is on you … so try it at your own risk. Off of Centennial Blvd turn up 54th Ave N. You will cross some railroad tracks. As soon as you get across the tracks look right, there is sort of a gravel road. Drive up that gravel road .. you can’t miss it.

Please be respectful of the property by not leaving any trash (heck pick it up if there is some). No cutting donuts in the gravel area either. Dumb antics hurt other people as well by possibly not being able to get close to the iconic silo mural of Lee Estes and the children. Take only pictures, leave only footprints.

Nashville Luxury Hotels 10 Best Places to Stay

Nashville Luxury Hotels, there are some very nice and unique ones to choose from. But which ones stand out above the rest?

Some of my top picks for Nashville Luxury Hotels are The Union Station located downtown, The Hermitage is just a couple of blocks from the Lower Broadway bars, The Westin Nashville near The Gulch, and the famous Opryland Hotel and Convention Center located in the Music Valley area.

All offer top-level service and amenities, let’s check them out.

Get up the next morning and walk the Walk of Fame park checking out all the stars and names on the sidewalk of the famous musicians.

The Hermitage

One of Nashville luxury hotels that many famous people have stayed in. The Heritage.
The Hermitage – Some really famous people have stayed here!

I’m going to start this one a bit weird. Fellas, you have got to check out the men’s restroom on the right as you walk in. I’m not even kidding, it is just …. aw heck read this article from NBC News, you will see.

Ok, now that I have that out of the way. This is one of the few Nashville luxury hotels that has A LOT of history! There have been many famous people who stayed here. So, ya never know, you could be staying in the same room just to name a few Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and more.

Even a sports legend has stayed here. Who you ask? Welp, the famous Babe Ruth. Ok, there has to be one famous .. err … aa .. I actually should say an infamous person and that would be the bank robber John Dillinger. No other Nashville luxury hotels can claim this!

21c Museum Hotel Nashville

21c Museum Hotel Downtown Nashville – on 2nd Ave!

Of the Nashville luxury hotels on this list, 21c Museum is very unique. It is like an art gallery and a museum in one. Then add in the modern aesthetics and technology, and this makes for a very nice place to stay that is really close to the live music and bars of Lower Broadway. It is literally … walk out the hotel door, hang a right … it is right down the end of the street.

As of this writing in February of 2023 the aftermath of the Christmas bombing is still very apparent. There are wall sections of many businesses still missing. Don’t worry, many people walk through there on a daily and nightly basis, it is completely safe. It is just sad there was so much damage but luckily there were only 8 people injured and 1 person died. That one person was the bomber who wanted to kill himself in the RV loaded full of explosives.

Just a heads up about parking. The 21c Museum Hotel is just across the street from the James Robertson Pkwy underground parking garage. This garage is one of the cheapest places to park that is close. Check out this article about Nashville parking.

1 Hotel Downtown Nashville

Of the Nashville luxury hotels on this list, the outside of this one is a bit unique. It looks like it has fur growing on the wall. It makes it easy to spot if nothing else. Ok ..I think it looks kinda cool as well.

1 Hotel is located on Demonbreun street just over a 1/4 mile from the live music of Lower Broadway. It has lots of smaller bars around it so you can check them out as you make your way to party central. I do suggest a little place called the Tin Roof which is pretty close. The walk is pretty easy and actually entertaining as you check out the sites on the way to Lower Broadway.

This 5-star hotel has lots of great things to offer! There is room service, 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, bicycle rental, and grab rails by the toilets when you are too drunk to stand up easily. Wanna be pampered? JW Marriott in the South Broadway (SoBro) area

The views of Nashville are EPIC!!! Of the Nashville luxury hotels on this list, JW Marriott probably has one of the best city skyline views of any of them! I’ve been on the rooftop where the pool is … the view is just WOW!

Getting to the live music of Lower Broadway is only about a 10-ish minute walk depending on your pace. Lots of smaller cool bars to check out on the way, just don’t get too tanked on the way to the real party on Lower Broad. Or .. if you do, that is ok as well as long as you have a great time visiting Nashville.

Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center

Gaylord Opryland Hotel – Inside atrium during Christmas

Gaylord Opryland Hotel is one of Nashville’s biggest attractions. It is so much more than just a luxury hotel. There are 3 atriums totaling 9 acres of natural indoor gardens, rivers, walking paths, and waterfalls. Oh, there is even a boat ride … inside one of the atriums. Oftentimes locals and tourists come to just visit the atriums for a peaceful walk and maybe even get some food at one of the many restaurants.

Of the Nashville luxury hotels on this list, this one is my personal favorite. I have been there many times with friends and family. They hold a spectacular Christmas each year with millions of lights. You really should come to check out the Christmas event even if you don’t stay the night.

Unlike the other Nashville luxury hotels in this article, the Opryland Hotel is about 11 miles from Lower Broadway. So if you are staying at the hotel having a car will be helpful or ride share.
